OAKLAND FARM WEDDING | STEPHANIE + MICAH
I have known Stephanie for a few years now and I have always known that she has a heart of gold and that she is absolutely beautiful! Micah is one lucky guy! Capturing their very special day was one of the best experiences on my photography adventure thus far. Back in August when Steph asked me to photograph her wedding, I was so excited! She also asked me if I did videography. I told her I had never filmed a wedding day but if she was willing to be my first film then I would be more than happy to try it out! (This year I've learned to always do what you are afraid to do or are not used to doing because most of the great things we accomplish come from just outside of our comfort zones, right?) So, not only did I receive the blessing to photograph this gorgeous day for two God-loving soul mates, but I also got to catch some key moments on film and put together a video for them. When Stephanie texted me after she watched it and said she had tears rolling down her face, was speechless and she was in LOVE with it, I started crying too! Y'all this is why I do what I do! Moments like this are why THIS is my PASSION!
As I pulled up to the Oakland Farm there was still frost covering the pasture as the sun sparkled off of it. I knew this was going to be a beautiful day! I loved photographing all of the girls getting hair and makeup while talking and laughing with each other. One of our goals today was to hang Stephanie's dress from the chandelier in the barn and get a shot of it like she really wanted! After Brooke & I made several (and I'm sure comical) attempts to get it up there, we finally did it! It was so worth the struggle! Haha! One of my favorite things Stephanie and Micah chose to do was write notes to each other to read. I just think that is so precious! I loved that I actually got to capture her in that moment writing her note to Micah and then both of them reading them. Brooke & I headed to the barn to capture some reception details and while we were inside photographing we heard a big thump on the door. We both turned around and gasped to find a sweet little day-old calf! She was timid but walked up to us and I got her on film. I called her Stephanie & Micah's good luck calf! When we got back to the house Afton shared a special moment with Stephanie as she prayed over their wedding day and their marriage. I couldn't hold my tears back on that one! Steph's bridesmaids were blown away when they saw her in her dress. I photographed Stephanie's bridal portraits back in October at Leslie Alford Mims House so I already knew how fantastic her dress and hair looked but it's something about a bride on her wedding day that gives her a different look. This time when she put on her dress I felt like I had seen her in it for the first time! She was glowing! Stephanie wanted me to film her dad seeing her in her dress since she and Micah chose to go the traditional route and not do a first look. This was another tear-filled moment as she walked out of the house and her dad turned around. He couldn't even speak so he just hugged her. It was precious! The ceremony was so beautiful & overflowing with the Word of God and happy tears. The barn was filled with gold and eucalyptus! Just beautiful! I loved the way the chandelier sparkled over them as they shared their first dance together as husband & wife. They ended the night by taking their grand exit to the sound of bells as their guests rang mistletoe bells as they floated down the path! A perfect ending to a perfect day. Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Lawrence!
