AKP RETREAT STYLED SHOOT + MY EXPERIENCE
I wanted to begin my blogging again by sharing my experience at a retreat in Virginia and since it's Thanksgiving, to let everyone know how thankful I am for this amazing job!
About a month ago I had the opportunity to join a retreat in Virginia hosted by Ashton Kelley! My friend Whitney had invited me to go along with her earlier in the year and little did I know that I was in for such a life-changing experience. Who knew a few days in Virginia would change my whole outlook!
Before the trip, I had been feeling overwhelmed and a bit discouraged. As a human being it's normal to feel this way every now and then but I was afraid I wouldn't get that spark back. As a creative, that spark is essential! I knew it was still somewhere but I just had a hard time finding it. Ashton, an (AMAZING!) wedding photographer in Maryland, gave us a motivating talk and it spoke to me more than words can describe. I got to know each of these wonderful creative women, share things with them and laugh with them! We all participated in a beautifully styled photo shoot featuring a real life bride & groom who happened to be celebrating their 10 year anniversary! Not only that, but they are also photographers and have their own business together! How sweet! They were the best to work with and we all had a blast snapping shots of them all day.
By the end of the trip, I gained a whole new perspective, appreciation and confidence for what I do! I still have so much to learn and still have more ways to grow and I am excited to be along for the journey. I have so many goals I'd like to accomplish in the next few years - including starting my blogging back up. Not everyone can say they go do a job that they LOVE every day. I am beyond blessed to be able to say that I do and wouldn't trade it for the world! Some days I wake up and still can't believe this blessing God has given me to be able to do what I am passionate about as a job. He called me to do this and I have never been more excited to pursue this dream of mine.I love and appreciate each and every one of my clients and I am beyond happy I have gotten to know each one of you and to have captured a part of your lives!
Here's to being thankful and to new beginnings (and blogs starting back!)
